Note on Temperatures in Wine Vault and Icehouse at Monticello, 11 June 1806

From Daily Record, 1 November 1802-25 May 1826 (Massachusetts Historical Society).
In Jefferson’s hand, inserted perpendicularly in margin alongside entries of May and June 1806.

June 11. 06. the thermom . <being at 90° in the open air> was carried into the wine vault & there left 7. hours. it fell to 56.° the outward air then being 90°. It was then suspended in the icehouse, level with the top of the ice, which was about half gone; the mercury stood at 59½ or 60.
